Privacy Policy

Last updated

VideoArchiver, a product of Kannah Consulting, copies your Ring clips to storage you own. This policy explains what we collect to do that, what we never keep, and how to remove it.

At a glance

1. Information we collect and how we use it

We collect and process information only to archive your Ring clips to your own storage:

Your signed-in browser can read only your own records.

2. AI and automated models

We do not use customer data, video recordings, metadata, or user information to train any AI or automated decision-making models (including classical machine learning, heuristic learning, generative AI, or LLMs). No data is shared with third-party AI training platforms.

3. Data retention

We keep information only as long as we need it to provide the service:

4. Sub-processors and data sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data or video files. These providers help us run the service:

Your clips go directly to the storage provider you connect (Google Drive, Dropbox, or S3-compatible storage), under that provider’s terms.

5. Cookies, local storage, and analytics

VideoArchiver sets no cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics is on for every visitor: it is cookieless, counts page views and how fast pages load (with the page’s path, the site that sent you, your browser and your country) without tracking you across sites, and Cloudflare adds it to our pages, so there is no analytics choice to make. Sentry runs without cookies and writes nothing to your browser’s storage.

We use Sentry to find and fix problems, never for advertising. When something fails in your browser, the error report holds what failed and where in the code, the page you were on (its path only, never a query string), your browser with its language and time zone, and a trail of what led up to it: recent page navigations, clicks and key presses (with the label of the control, which can include a camera or folder name, but never what you typed), the page’s own network requests (address, method and result, never a query string or body), and messages the page wrote to the browser console. When you are signed in, it also holds your user ID and email address. Sentry also records session health, whether each visit ended without a crash, which carries your user ID when you are signed in. And for about one page view in ten, it records timings, without your user ID or email: how long the page and its network requests took to load, and how long the page took to respond to a click or key press, named by the label of the control (which can include a camera or folder name).

Your browser’s local storage holds your sign-in session, interface preferences (such as theme and onboarding progress), and any campaign tags (utm_*) on the link you arrived from. The campaign tags stay in your browser.

While you write feedback, the form also keeps your draft (the subject, the message, and any name and email you typed) in this tab’s session storage, so a page change does not lose it. It is not shared with other tabs and is not sent anywhere until you click Send feedback. It is cleared when you send it, sign out, delete your account or close the tab, and a draft older than 24 hours is not restored.

There is nothing to switch off here: analytics count page views without cookies, and Sentry exists to fix problems. If you would rather not be counted or reported, a content blocker in your browser can stop either, and the site works the same.

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views for every visitor without cookies, and we use no advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party behavioral tracking.

6. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, data protection laws may give you these rights:

  • Right of access (GDPR Art. 15): you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to erasure (GDPR Art. 17): you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Right to data portability (GDPR Art. 20): you may request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • CCPA rights (California): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@videoarchiver.mrkannah.com. We will respond within one month, and may need to verify your identity first.

7. Opting out

  • One camera: turn archiving off for it on the Devices page.
  • All archiving: remove VideoArchiver in the Ring app (menu, Apps, My Apps). We then erase your stored Ring tokens and archiving stops.
  • Your data: delete your account in Settings.
  • One destination: disconnecting a single destination isn’t available in the dashboard yet — contact support for help.

To opt out of non-critical email, contact support@videoarchiver.mrkannah.com. Critical service email (your sign-in link, Ring-access warnings and the receipt for deleting your account) can’t be turned off while your account is active.

Analytics and error reports have no setting in the dashboard; section 5 says what they hold and how to block them.

8. Human access

No one at VideoArchiver can view your videos: they are never stored, and streaming is fully automated. Limited account metadata, such as your email address and event log, may be looked at only to answer a support request or fix a problem with your account.

9. Your controls

In the dashboard you can turn archiving on or off per camera, set the folder clips go to, review your archived events, replay failed clips, and delete your account.

10. Children’s privacy

The service is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child under 16 has provided us personal data, we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new text here and change the date at the top. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will also email the address on your account before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
